Just curious, but has anyone every built a Classical with a one piece top? If so, how'd it turn out?

You can build a guitar with a one-piece top, but that's not the issue here.
I want to see the tree you got that top from!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, there have been a lot of smaller instruments built with one-
piece tops (one-piece backs are more common), but you should probably
watch the cross grain stiffness, because it's likely to vary considerably
from one side to the other.

I did a little research on building mandolins. Even on a small instrument like that where you could conceivably using a one-piece top, they still use bookmatched halves.    The reason is presumably to keep the top consistent from the bass side to the treble side.
